In the story
Monty returns earlier in the remake continuity. Events involving him supply part of the prequel’s explanatory relationship to the family members introduced in 2003.
Continuity matters
A prequel to the 2003 remake. Its origin story concerns Thomas Hewitt and the remake family, not the teenage Sawyer story told in Leatherface (2017).
