In the story
Alex is part of the roadside encounter involving the bikers. Her involvement helps set in motion the collision between the traveling group, local authority, and the Hewitt family.
Continuity matters
A prequel to the 2003 remake. Its origin story concerns Thomas Hewitt and the remake family, not the teenage Sawyer story told in Leatherface (2017).
