Stretch, Lefty, and the Sawyer family

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Story guide · spoilers

A recorded killing turns Stretch’s radio work into dangerous evidence. Her attempt to bring the recording to Lefty Enright draws her into a conflict between a survivor seeking help and a man whose obsession with the family has become all-consuming.

The sequel expands the family’s theatricality through Chop Top, Drayton’s public-facing activities, and the subterranean Texas Battle Land setting. Stretch’s relationship with Leatherface introduces hesitation and misrecognition into encounters that might otherwise follow a simple pursuit pattern.

An archive reading: the ending’s chainsaw dance reverses the image associated with Leatherface in the first film. Hooper’s heightened colors, exaggerated behavior, and black comedy make the sequel a deliberate tonal departure. Williams’s interviews are useful for understanding the film from Stretch’s side of the confrontation.
