Sound is part of the plot: the recording of an attack becomes evidence, and the radio station becomes a site of danger. Stretch’s profession gives the sequel a different relationship to recorded voices and public listening than the original film.
The score is credited to Tobe Hooper and Jerry Lambert. The commercially released song soundtrack is a separate compilation, associated with the film’s rock and new-wave environment. A soundtrack listing should not be treated as a complete inventory of every sound or song in the finished film.
